LIBRARY CARDS

Library card holders may borrow books, movies, music recordings, books on tape, magazines and other materials, including items owned by other libraries; use subscription online databases (from home as well as in-house); request and renew materials by telephone or online; and much more. Circulation Desk Staff will be happy to give you an application for your library card.

ELIGIBILITY
You are eligible for a Newburgh Free Library Card if you:
1. live or own property in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District.
Or
2. work or go to school in the district and do not live in another Library area within the Ramapo Catskill Library System (RCLS).

Non-Newburgh Residents
1. If you live in another RCLS area, you must first go to your home library (usually located in the community where you pay your school or property taxes) and apply for a library card. This card may be used at any library within the RCLS area.

2. Currently, if you live outside the RCLS area, you can be issued a Newburgh card for an annual fee of $50.00 for adults and $5.00 for students.

IDENTIFICATION
Two forms of identification are required if you've never had a Newburgh card. Acceptable forms of ID must show your physical address and include your driver's license, rent receipt, utility bill, bank book or apartment lease. If you receive your mail at a post office box, one form of ID must show that address also.

CHILDREN
We encourage parents to give their children the gift of a library card. All children, including babies, who live in the Newburgh Enlarged School District are eligible. For school-aged children, registration in a district school is the only identification required. Parent identification is necessary for private or home-schooled students (see above.) Children from infancy through Grade 6 will need a parent's or guardian's signature on the registration form.

LOST, STOLEN OR DAMAGED CARDS
If you lose your card, promptly report the loss to the Library since you are responsible for all items checked out. For students in high school or younger, there is no fee for the first replacement card; second replacement, 50 cents; third replacement or more, $1.00. Adult borrowers are charged $1.00.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS OR TELEPHONE NUMBER
If you change your address or telephone number, stop by the Library's Circulation Desk so we can update your record. One form of identification showing the new address is required.

FORGOT YOUR CARD?
Please remember to bring your card whenever you come to the Library to check out materials. This will prevent mistakes in your borrowing record. However, if you are a Newburgh patron and forget your card, Circulation Staff will look up your record as long as you have proper ID.
