TEEN ADVISORY BOARD (TAB):
Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a group that meets every other month to plan teen programs and suggest books and other materials for the library, and just talk about whatever we want. If you’re interested in joining or just want to sit in on a meeting, feel free to show up at the next scheduled one. For grades 7-12.
Next Meeting: Friday, February 9 at 3:30 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room.
FALL & WINTER 2017/2018 PROGRAMS:
Level Up Newburgh! Saturday, November 4 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Main Library. Celebrate International Gaming Day, an event sponsored by the American Library Association, with Board Games, Video Games, Minecraft Contest and more. All ages that “got game” are welcome.
Check Mate Chess Club, Thursday November 9 from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Play against others at your level or learn to play chess. Open to youth of all ages and abilities.
Hagird’s Army Meeting, Thursday, November 14 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. We will plan our December elections, and December service project. We will also end the meeting with a game of Harry Potter Heads Up! Come one, come all! All ages welcome and new members encouraged.
Books -> Movies, Tuesday, November 21 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Join us for a screening of the movie Everything, Everything (PG-13). Before coming, read the book of the same name written by Nicola Yoon. For those who want to stay after the movie ends, we will discuss the book and compare it to the movie! Open to ages 13-18.
Teen Craft Saturday, November 25 from from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Come and craft! You can participate in the suggested craft or you can explore and see what you can come up with on your own! We will be making Homemade Jar Candles. All supplies will be provided. Registration suggested. Open to ages 11-18. Register online.
Snack and Yak: Graphic Novel Book Club, Thursday, December 7 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Read the graphic novels Giant Days, Volume 1 and Giant Days, Volume 2 by John Allison and Lissa Treiman. We will discuss the books over snacks. Open to ages 11-18.
Teen Movie Night, Wednesday, December 27 from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Movie to be announced. Open to ages 13-18.
Anime at the Library, Thursday, January 18 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Main Library, E-Learning Center. The library will be screening episodes of “Naruto” Open to ages 12-18.
Gamers Meetups, Saturdays, January 20 and February 17 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Open to ages 11-18.
Summer Reading Program A five-week long program for kids of all ages incorporating independent reading, story times, crafts, movies and special events all planned to make reading fun! Features the annual New York Statewide Collaborative summer reading theme. Programs run July – August .
