TEEN ADVISORY BOARD (TAB):
Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a group that meets every other month to plan teen programs and suggest books and other materials for the library, and just talk about whatever we want. If you’re interested in joining or just want to sit in on a meeting, feel free to show up at the next scheduled one. For grades 7-12.

Next Meeting: Friday, October 20 at 3:30 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room.

SUMMER 2017 PROGRAMS:

 

Hagird’s Army, Thursday, September 14 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. We will continue to plan our Fall Harvest Drive and discussing our next service project. Come one, come all! All ages welcome and new members encouraged. Please see our Hagrid’s Army page for more details.

Teen Craft Saturdays, September 16, October 28 and November 25 from from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Come and craft! You can participate in the suggested craft or you can explore and see what you can come up with on your own! All supplies will be provided. Registration suggested. Open to ages 11-18. Register online.

Hobbit Day Celebration, Saturday, September 23 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Main Library. Join us for Hobbit Day stories, games, activities, crafts and elevensies. Program designed for ages 10 and up, but all ages are welcome.

Anime at the Library, Thursday, October 12 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Main Library, E-Learning Center. The library will be screening episodes of “My Hero Academia.” Open to ages 12-18.

“My Hero Academia” follows the story of Izuku. A middle school student who, in a world where having super-powers is common, was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. That, of course, doesn’t stop him from enrolling in one of the most prestigious hero academies in the world.

CHECK MATE CHESS CLUB, Wednesday October 18 and Thursday November 9 from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Play against others at your level or learn to play chess. Open to youth of all ages and abilities.

Level Up Newburgh! Saturday, November 4 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Main Library. Celebrate International Gaming Day, an event sponsored by the American Library Association, with Board Games, Video Games, Minecraft Contest and more. All ages that “got game” are welcome.

Books -> Movies, Tuesday, November 21 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Join us for a screening of the movie Everything, Everything (PG-13). Before coming, read the book of the same name written by Nicola Yoon. For those who want to stay after the movie ends, we will discuss the book and compare it to the movie! Open to ages 13-18.

 

ON-GOING PROGRAMS:

Summer Reading Program A five-week long program for kids of all ages incorporating independent reading, story times, crafts, movies and special events all planned to make reading fun! Features the annual New York Statewide Collaborative summer reading theme. Programs run July – August .

VOLUNTEER HOURS:
Do you need to volunteer for community service for school or church? You can earn that time by volunteering at to help at the Library. Contact Teen Services at 845-563-3644 or email fdavolio@rcls.org.
