TEEN ADVISORY BOARD (TAB):
Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a group that meets every other month to plan teen programs and suggest books and other materials for the library, and just talk about whatever we want. If you’re interested in joining or just want to sit in on a meeting, feel free to show up at the next scheduled one. For grades 7-12.

Next Meeting: Monday, August 14 at 2:00 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room.

SUMMER 2017 PROGRAMS:

Build Guild, Mondays, July 10 – August 7 from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Robotics & challenges including LEGO WeDo, Sprk+, Spero, Ozobots and more! Activities change weekly. Open to ages 8-17.

Stop Motion 101, Tuesdays, July 11 – August 8 from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Main Library, E-Learning Center. Learn the art of stop motion! Create props, write a script and produce a movie using stop motion technology. Ages 12-17.

Creative Writing Workshop, Thursdays, July 13 – August 3 from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. A four-week creative writing workshop for ages 14-18 with local author Belinda McKeon, author of Solace and Tender. Registration Required. Register online. Open to the first 8 registrants.

Minecraft Build Challenge, Wednesdays and Fridays, July 19 – July 28 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Main Library, E-Learning Center. Compete in a contest among several neighboring libraries to see who can design and build the best Bio Dome self-sustaining city. Open to ages 7-17. Registration is encouraged. Register online. 

Aseelah Braids Academy Day Camp, Saturday, July 29 from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Aseelah from Aseelah Braids Academy will be holding a day camp for girls ages 12-16 to come learn about natural hair care tips, a mini makeover and girl empowerment. No registration required. Limit to first 10 girls attending.

Build a Better… Word, Monday, July 31 from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Town Branch. Teens can compete for prizes in a “vocabulary bee” (with points gained for knowing the meaning of a word rather than its spelling). Snacks will be provided for participants. Ages 10-13.

Harry Potter Birthday Party, Monday, July 31 from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Come join us for a feast fit for a wizard to celebrate Harry’s Birthday. Hagrid’s Army invites you to stay for a screening of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Open to youth age 7 and up.

LEGO® Bricks Teen Building Challenge, Wednesday, August  from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Who can create the tallest tower? The strongest wall? The most colorful pattern? Can you build brand new Lego set faster than your friends? Come see to find out! Open to ages 11-17.

Teen Trivia: Summer Edition, Wednesday, August 9 from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Bring your friends or come alone. Create a team or battle solo. The player(s) with the most points wins! Topics might include: entertainment, sports, politics, people, etc. Ages 11-17.

Check Mate Chess Club, Thursdays, August 17 – 31 from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. Main Library, Story Hour Room. Play against others at your level or learn to play chess. Open to youth of all ages and abilities; interested adults welcome as instructors for youth.

ON-GOING PROGRAMS:

Summer Reading Program A five-week long program for kids of all ages incorporating independent reading, story times, crafts, movies and special events all planned to make reading fun! Features the annual New York Statewide Collaborative summer reading theme. Programs run July 10- August 11.

VOLUNTEER HOURS:
